Swedish Chocolate Buns

Swedish Chocolate Buns are soft with chocolate, cinnamon, cardamom makes a sweet treat.

Ingredients:

Dough:

• 3 cups Self Rising Flour

• 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar

• 2 1/2 tsp. Instant Rise Yeast

• 1 cup Milk

• 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, softened

Filling:

• 1/2 cup Brown Sugar

• 2 tbsp. Ground Cinnamon

• 1 1/2 tsp. Cardamom

• 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, softened

Topping:

• 1 Egg

• 1 tsp. Water

• Granulated Sugar

Instructions:

Dough:

  1. In a saucepan over med high heat add in milk and butter and let cook until temperature reaches 110°F. Then place in a stand up mixer and use dough hook attachment.
  2. Add in flour, sugar, yeast , beat well until combined form a dough.
  3. Form dough into a ball and place in greased bowl and cover with clean kitchen towel and let rise at room temperature for 1 hour until double in size.
  4. Make the filling, in a bowl of stand up add in the ingredients and beat well until combined and set aside.
  5. Place the dough on floured surface and use a rolling pin to roll the dough out in rectangle and spread filling in the center of each rectangle dough and fold the dough over the filling and use a pizza cutter cut the dough into strips.
  6. Shape and twist the dough into knots by wrapping the dough and then tucking the loose end into the center.
  7. In a bowl add in topping ingredients and mix well until combined. Brush on each dough buns
  8. Place on parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes until light golden brown and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
