Three Layer Red Velvet Cake

This Three Red Layer Red Velvet Cake is moist and soft topped with buttercream frosting for a delicious dessert.

Ingredients:

Cake:

• 3 cups Self Rising Flour

• 2 cups Granulated Sugar

• 1/4 cup Cocoa Powder

• 1/4 tsp. Ground Cinnamon

• 2 tsp. Vanilla Extract

• 1/2 cup Boiling Water

• 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil

• 1 tsp. White Vinegar

• 3 tsp. Red Food Coloring

• 1 stick Unsalted Butter, melted

• 2 Eggs

• 1 Egg Yolk

Cream Cheese Frosting:

• 4 cups Powdered Sugar

• 2 tsp. Vanilla Extract

• 1 package Cream Cheese, softened

• 2 sticks Unsalted Butter, softened

Instructions:

Cake:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease three round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl of stand up mixer, add in flour, sugar, cocoa powder and cinnamon, mix well until combined.
  3. Add in butter, vanilla extract and oil, boiling water, egg, egg yolk and beat well until combined.
  4. Divide the batter into three greased cake pans and bake for 35 minutes and let cool completely on wire rack.
  5. Make the frosting, in a bowl of stand up mixer add ingredients and beat well until smooth and fluffy.
  6. Lay one cake layer on cake platter, frost it and lay second cake layer on top, frost it and lay third cake layer on top and frost it. Slice and serve.
