Onion Pie

This Onion Pie is easy to make with onion filling in a pie crust top with crispy bacon.

Instructions:

Crust:

• 2 cups Self Rising Flour

• 2 tsp. Quick Rising Dry Yeast

• 1 tsp. Sugar

• 1/2 cup Butter

• 2/4 cup Milk, lukewarm

• 1 Egg, slightly beaten

• 1 Egg White

Filling:

• 1 Chopped Onion

• 5 Slices Bacon, diced

• 4 Eggs, slightly beaten

• 3 tbsp. Butter

• 1 cup Heavy Cream

• 2/4 tsp. Salt

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl of stand up mixer with paddle dough attachment and add in flour, butter, blend together into small pieces until is like breadcrumbs.
  2. Add in milk, egg, and beat well until comes to dough
  3. Wrap bowl plastic wrap and place in fridge for one hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease pie pan with cooking spray.
  5. Remove the dough from fridge and let set at room temperature
  6. In a skillet over med high heat add in butter, onions , bacon and saute until tender and bacon is crispy. Add in the heavy cream.
  7. Remove skillet from heat and add in eggs, mix well.
  8. Roll the dough on a floured surface and roll the dough out with rolling pin.
  9. Press the dough into pie pan and around the edges of pan. Brush with egg whites on the dough.
  10. Bake for 35 minutes until golden brown and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
