Chocolate Cherry Layer Cake

This chocolate cherry layer cake is moist with chocolate cake recipe and cherries top with cherry cream frosting.

Ingredients:

Cake

• 2 cups Self-Rising Flour

• 1 cup Granulated Sugar

• 1 cup Cocoa Powder

• 1/2 tsp. Ground Cinnamon

• 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract

• 1 tsp. Almond Extract

• 3/4 cup Unsweetened Cherry Juice

• 2/4 cup Chocolate Milk

• 1/2 tbsp. Unsalted Butter, softened

• 2 Eggs

Frosting

• 1 cup Cherries, stem remove and diced

• 3 cup Powdered Sugar

• 1 container Heavy Cream

• 1/4 tsp. Almond Extract

Instructions:

Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease two round cake pans with cooking spray.
  2. In a bowl of stand up mixer add in the flour, sugar, cocoa powder and cinnamon, beat well until combined.
  3. Add in the vanilla extract and almond extract, cherry juice and chocolate milk, butter, eggs, best well until combined.
  4. Pour the batter into greased two round cake pans and bake for 35 minutes until light golden brown. Let cakes cool completely before frosting.
  5. Make the frosting, add in the ingredients in a bowl of stand up mixer and beat well until smooth and fluffy.
  6. Lay down one cake layer on a plate, frost it and then lay down second layer on top, frost it.
  7. Slice and serve.
