Black Forest Gateau Cake

Black forest cake is a layered chocolate sponge cake soaked in cherry syrup and garnish with whipped cream and cherries.

Ingredients:

Cake:

• 2 cups Self-Rising Flour

• 1 cup Sweetened Cocoa Powder

• 2 cups Granulated Sugar

• 1 tsp. Instant Coffee Granules

• 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract

• 1 cup Buttermilk

• 2/4 cup Vegetable Oil

• 2 Eggs

• 1 Egg White

Cherry Filling and Chocolate Syrup

• 2 cups Canned Tart Cherries, drained

• 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar

• 2 tbsp. Cornstarch

• 1/3 tsp. Almond Extract

• 1 tbsp. Butter, softened

• 4 tbsp. Chocolate Syrup, divided

Whipped Cream and Toppings

• 8 Fresh Cherries

• 1 bar of Sweetened Baking Chocolate

• 1 2/4 cups Whipping Cream

• 1/3 cup Powdered Sugar

• 2 tsp. Vanilla Extract

Instructions:

Cake:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease three round cake pans with cooking spray.
  2. In a bowl of stand up mixer, add in the flour, sugar, cocoa powder  coffee granulas, vanilla extract, oil, buttermilk and eggs, egg white, beat well until combined and smooth.
  3. Pour the 1/2 cake batter into each greased round cake pans and bake for 35 minutes until light golden brown and let cakes cool for 20 minutes and let cakes cool completely.

Cherry Filling:

1.In small saucepan without heat, add in sugar and cornstarch stir well until combined. Add in the cherries and stir well until combined. Now turn on heat mid high and stir to let cherries to melt until liquid has come out and it have thicken. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.

Whipped Cream:

  1. In a bowl of stand up mixer, add whipped cream, sugar, vanilla extract, beat well until stiff peaks form. Place in the refrigerator to chill.

Assemble:

  1. Place one cake on a cake plate and drizzle, spread chocolate syrup evenly on top.
  2. Add the cherry filling on top of chocolate syrup.
  3. Place second cake layer on top, repeat this steps chocolate syrup and cherry filling.
  4. Place 3 cake layer on top and then spread whipping cream on top and around the cake layers.
  5. Around the edges of cake layers decorate with chocolate and then use piping bag to add swirl of whipped cream on top round the cake edges. Place each fresh cherries on top.
