Fried Okra

These Fried Orka is Southern comfort recipe that’s quick way to made for side dish with any weeknight meal.

Ingredients:

• 1 lb. Fresh Orka

• 1 cup Cornmeal

• 1/3 cup Flour

• 1 tsp. Salt

• 1/2 tsp. Black Pepper

• 2 Eggs, slightly beaten

• Vegetable Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Cut the stem off the orka and cut the orka crosswise into 1/2 inch pieces.
  2. In bowl, whisk eggs slightly beaten with salt, add in orka, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set aside to soak for 10 minutes.
  3. Preheat a deep skillet over med high heat with hot oil.
  4. In a mixing bowl, add in flour, cornmeal, black pepper, mix well.
  5. Take the orka out of the egg mixture and drain off egg from orka.
  6. Dredge the orka in the flour mixture and place in hot oil skillet and cook in batches until crispy golden brown.
  7. Drain off excess greased on paper lined plate and serve hot.
