Fried Green Tomatoes

These fried green tomatoes is a southern comfort food that’s tradition in the south.

Fried green tomatoes are coated with cornmeal, flour breading is a crispy golden brown.

For The Ingredients

• 4 Green Tomatoes

• Cornmeal

• Flour

• Salt and Black Pepper

• Buttermilk

• Egg

• Vegetable Oil

The Instructions

• Sliced the green tomatoes on cutting board and place on a plate.

• Next get three shallow plates, in one add in cornmeal, flour, salt, black pepper,mix well and next one pour buttermilk and the last plate add in the eggs.

• Dredge the sliced tomatoes in eggs, buttermilk and cornbread mix.

• Place the breaded green tomatoes in a hot oil cast iron skillet and cook on both sides until crispy, golden brown.

• Place on paperlined plate to drain off excess grease and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Storing

• Store in the fridge in airtight container and will last up to 3 days.

• Don’t store in the freezer because it not great candidates to be frozen.

Fried Green Tomatoes

These fried green tomatoes are crispy and golden brown.

Ingredients:

• 1 cup Cornmeal

• 1/2 cup Flour

• 1/2 tsp. Salt

• 1 cup Buttermilk

• 2 Eggs, beaten

• Black Pepper to taste

• Vegetable Oil for frying

Instructions:

Sliced the green tomatoes on cutting board and place them on plate.

Take three shallow plates, add one cornmeal, flour, salt black pepper, mix well and add in another plate buttermilk and the last plate add in beaten eggs.

Dredge the sliced green tomatoes in eggs, buttermilk and cornbread mix. Place in a cast iron hot oil skillet and cook on both sides until crispy and golden brown.

Place cooked green tomatoes on paperlined plate to drain off excess grease and let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
